Carrier Grade Residential Active Ethernet
The Calix E5-312 and E5-324 Active Ethernet (AE) platforms are small-form-factor (SFF), high capacity 1RU products designed to deliver reliable, cost-effective Gigabit Ethernet (GE) residential services to the edge of the access network. Leveraging the industry-leading Calix 700GX ONTs and GE, NxGE, or 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) network uplinks, the E5-312 and E5-324 products deliver advanced IP as a complementary extension to the Calix C-Series, E-Series, and P-Series product portfolio. Like all Calix products, the E5-312 / E5-324 are seamlessly managed as an integrated component of the Calix Unified Access Infrastructure by the Calix Management System (CMS).
The E5-312 and E5-324 AE platforms provide exceptional flexibility for FTTP deployments:
- Service delivery: Residential Active Ethernet (Gigabit Ethernet)
- Transport: Gigabit Ethernet (GE) or 10GE (SFP+)
- Network uplink: Gigabit Ethernet (GE), NxGE (link aggregation), or 10GE (SFP+)
- Network protection: Rapid spanning tree (RSTP – for compatibility) and Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ITU G.8032 ERPS) / Enhanced EAPS (for performance and scalability)
Designed for Broadband Flexibility, Rapid Deployment
Leveraging deployable standards, the E5-312 and E5-324 offer a wide range of deployment options. The E5-312 / E5-324 can be deployed in point-to-point configurations or ring topologies, and can be integrated into an E5-400 / E5-440 network to deliver fully redundant, high capacity 10GE network uplinks. These interfaces are standards-based, with support for rapid spanning tree (RSTP) and link aggregation (LAG), ensuring maximum flexibility with a large variety of Ethernet switches and routers. The E5-312 / E5-324 have been designed for deployment simplicity by supporting a Layer 2 switching model, but are designed from the ground up to deliver carrier-grade Ethernet services rapidly, reliably, and securely.
