Our team
We track total and voluntary turnover rates, new hires, and internal mobility. These metrics are vital for strategic planning, enhancing employee satisfaction, and ensuring talent acquisition and retention.
Our workforce spans the globe, with employees logging in from Europe, Africa, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Most of our employees—about 65%—reside in North America. Almost 18% of the workforce hails from India, and a little over 16% are from China. In 2023, the average tenure in North America and Internationally was around five years. Our total turnover rate is under 10%, of which, 4% is voluntary. Over the last two years, our open positions have increased by almost 50%. In 2023, 13% of our open positions were filled by internal candidates.
Our impact
Calix is committed to creating a positive social impact by leveraging our resources, expertise, and network to address pressing societal challenges. We believe together we can be a force for good and are determined to drive change in the communities where we operate and beyond.
Our social impact initiatives in 2023 were a testament to our commitment to making a difference. We organized 30 impactful events, including 24 focused on Equitable Opportunities. Calix donated over 30,000 meals and another 325 hygiene and care kits, making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Volunteerism saw a significant increase of 177% in 2023, with the number of employees participating in volunteer activities rising by 165%, reflecting our team's dedication to giving back to the community.
Our culture
Additionally, we track employee learning and leadership development initiatives, along with comprehensive benefits like paid leaves for work-life balance, wellness programs for physical and mental health, and other perks. This data helps us foster an inclusive workplace culture, support employee growth, and ensure a balanced and healthy work environment.
At Calix, we value diversity, equity, and inclusion; our workforce composition reflects this. Almost a third of our team is comprised of women, with 6% in management positions. We have seen a steady increase in early career hires, which now make up 16% of our workforce, up from 7% in 2021. About 4% of our workforce in the US is comprised of Veterans, highlighting our commitment to supporting those who have served. Participation in our 34 Affinity Groups is close to 50%, showing our dedication to fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion. Over 30% of our workforce accessed Unmind in the first quarter of 2024, demonstrating our commitment to supporting employee mental health and wellbeing.
