Broadband Academy Listed as Finalist for EdTech Cool Tool Awards 2024

We’re thrilled to announce Broadband Academy was listed as a Finalist for the EdTech Cool Tool Awards 2024 in the Professional Skills (Workforce, Upskilling) Solution Category. The EdTech Awards from EdTech Digest is the world’s largest awards program dedicated to edtech and “recognizes outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology.” Finalists and winners were narrowed from a large field and judged on various criteria, including pedagogical workability, efficacy and results, support, clarity, value, and potential. 
 

In 2022, Calix first announced this complimentary e-learning resource to offer step-by-step guidance for aspiring broadband leaders seizing the once-in-a-generation opportunity to close the digital divide. Because the journey to becoming a broadband service provider (BSP) can be overwhelming, Broadband Academy was designed to help business and community leaders navigate the process of building a successful broadband business. 
 

Broadband Academy is particularly helpful for those early in their BSP journey, but also helps existing BSPs train and upskill their employees with the best practices to maintain a successful, well-informed team. It’s also available at no cost to everyone. You don’t need to be a Calix customer to enroll. Each carefully curated online course is self-guided, so participants can learn at their own pace. 
 

The online curriculum includes one fundamental course that covers five critical stages: fund, design, build, operate, and market. Since the initial launch, two courses have been added specifically for tribes and electric cooperatives. Broadband Academy offers seven total courses and 46 lessons, adding up to 384 minutes of educational content with an average lesson length of 8.5 minutes. Students receive badges and certificates of completion for each course.
